Gesture - "Karen got decaf for 6 weeks."

Font - Posted by u/zombarista 6 hours ago When you're rude to your barista, you get decaf. About 10 years ago, I worked at a coffee shop and we had a woman come through drive-thru that was a regular. She was a little hard to deal with, but we tolerated her

Font - eccentricities okay, but on this occasion, she was obscenely rude to a new employee that didn't yet know her usual order or recognize her. The new employee asked to see her ID since the credit card said that on the back in the signature panel....

Font - The customer came unglued and called the employee a "ct" and flung her credit card and ID through the drive thru window acting like this was a huge inconvenience. It wasn't.

Font - I was making drinks, so I made her drink decaf. If you're rude at a coffee shop, this is pretty common. The decaf button on the semi-auto espresso machines is so close to the regular button that it's impossible to tell.

Font - But then I told everyone in an employee group chat what happened, and we started a campaign to give her decaf that lasted about 6 weeks. This entire time, she was adding more and more shots to her drink and she up to something

Font - like 6 extra shots added to her drinks, because they just weren't waking her up anymore. By the end of 6 weeks, she had been on a pretty extensive caffeine detox, so we switched her back to regular espresso with her new 6-added-shot

Font - recipe. She went from 0 to 100% overnight. Have fun on the toilet with your now-liquefied bowels, lady. She did back off her added shots almost immediately. Moral: Don't be rude to the people handling your food, and

Font - don't mess with the stewards of the caffeine supply. Fin. EDIT TO ADDRESS SOME CONCERNS: the subject of this revenge wasn't on absolutely zero caffeine. You could see cans of energy drinks in her car
  • 10
Font - so she was obviously supplementing her intake. She was a oil field roughneck. Those folks work long shifts doing physically-demanding labor and high caffeine consumption was common.
  • 11
Font - It's also likely that she didn't get a total detox from caffeine from our store even, as many employees would have forgotten, or simply lost track of the cup to do anything to it beyond what was exactly
  • 12
Font - marked on the cup (the whole gambit falls apart of the cup gets conspicuously marked for decaf). And our coffee wasn't decaffeinated with solvents, instead using the Swiss method or by roasting until all the caffeine disappears.
  • 13
Font - So, did we try to decaf her in an organized campaign? Yes. Did her caffeine intake ever actually go completely to zero? Not a chance.

Font - Alaskerian +3.5 hr. ago There is a literal feeling of de ession when you decaffeinate yourself. I went decaff for a year and for the first 3 months I was tired all the time. 284 Reply Share

Font - BBEBEEBEEF 3 hr. ago Caffeine withdrawal is a b ch. I stopped drinking coffee 4 years ago after drinking it for about 30 years. I had a head splitting headache which lasted for about 5 or 6 weeks and would not go away.

Font - question. And it worked. The person shaped up their attitude very quickly. I guess success is the best revenge. 6 Reply Share

Font - Humble-Stock-5397 50 min. ago This was one solid answer to her. Another, better one, would be to ban her until she came back - in the store, not the drive-through- and apologized to the barista she cursed out and physically thr tened. With any kind of luck, she just wouldn't come back.

Font - Suss girlinwaves 4 hr. ago I loved decaffeinating rude customers. My rule was to never caffeinate a decaf beverage. Some people have health conditions that prevent them from ingesting it. It's not fun if it could hurt

Font - someone. I think going straight to six caffeine shots after weeks of decaf was a nasty thing to do - that likely caused harm to her. 431 Reply Share
